PM Modi hails health-workers, as India touches 200-cr vaccine dose landmark

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the collective efforts of scientists, doctors and nurses in powering India’s vaccination drive. Responding to a congratulatory tweet by eminent philanthropist Bill Gates, Modi said, India’s vaccination drive is big on speed and scale and has been powered by a collective effort. The Prime Minister further said that the people of India have shown remarkable faith in science and taken their doses in a timely manner.

Congratulating PM Modi on the milestone of administering 200 crore vaccinations, Bill Gates expressed gratitude on the continued partnership with Indian vaccine manufacturers and the Indian government for mitigating the impact of COVID-19.

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed 200 crore mark on 17 July. Reacting to this major achievement Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has achieved a major milestone of administering 200 crore doses of Covid vaccine. In a tweet, Dr Mandaviya said, the countdown to achieve the two hundred crore vaccination mark was an extremely proud moment. The journey of administering Made in India – Covaxin and Covishield vaccines to the citizens of India began on 16th January last year.

Union Health Ministry said, more than 23 lakh 60 thousand vaccine doses were administered yesterday. More than six crore 41 lakh vaccine doses have been administered to the children in the age group of 12 to 14 years so far. Over five crore 62 lakh precaution doses have been administered to the identified categories of beneficiaries including Health Care Workers, Front Line Workers and people above 18 years of age.
