Health Insurance and Protection Law for journalists to be implemented soon, promises CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur. Chhattisgarh government will soon take an initiative to provide benefits of health insurance to journalists working in the state. Felicitating the journalists, who had worked non-stop for 109 hours during the rescue operation of Rahul Sahu in Pihrid village of Janjgir-Champa district recently. Chief Ministter made this announcement in the state capital yesterday.
Baghel said, appropriate decision will be taken very soon in this regard. At present, schemes are being operated by the state government to provide assistance for the treatment of patients. It will be seen whether journalists can be covered through these schemes or not. If needed, a separate scheme could also be made for media-persons, he assured. Whatever steps have to be taken in this regard, will definitely be finalized in the days to come. If required, a bill might be tabled in the assembly also, Baghel pointed out.
The Chief Minister praised the tireless reporting of all the 61 journalists, belonging to different media houses, who remained on the spot for a record 109 hours of live coverage during the rescue operation of Rahul Sahu. The program was organized by the Chhattisgarh unit of Bharti Shramjeevi Journalist Association.
The Chief Minister said that the Journalists Protection Act would be brought in the upcoming winter session or budget session of the Vidhan Sabha. Several meetings of the committee constituted in this regard have been held under the chairmanship of a former Supreme Court Justice. Its draft has also been prepared. Parliamentary Secretary Vikas Upadhyay was present in the program as a special guest.
